This is the view from my head, at the 2008 Colorado State Championship Short Track race at Eldora last weekend. This is both the 40+ and the 50+ Categories as they sent us off together. I consider these efforts "half a cross race" without the dismounts, you always either do or want to puke as soon as you cross the finish...this is part one.
Last night was the team party for the Mountain Pedaler racing team which technically I was crashing as I did not race for the team this year, but decided to go hang with the homies just the same as the Popester and Charlie Brown hosted a feed at Moe's BBQ in Eagle. The real fun started after dark when the night ride took place. With implements of destruction in hand, we headed out to the Boneyard, with nine riders, two good lights, a Tony Hawk Helmet, two rental helmets, two riders on cyclocross bikes, three riders in sandles, one of which was riding clipless pedals on a singlespeed that was too small. You get the picture. We headed out in search of the infamous "yellow spotted wrinkled back brown trout" as seen above but never found it. We did however have a great ride, with only one big toe getting the skin peeled off of it. Dat be mine.....

With back to back State and Marathon National singlespeed champioships under her belt. Amy Hermes is stepping up and taking on the rest of the world tomorrow at the WORLD SINGLESPEED CHAMPIONSHIPS. Addicted to Bicycles spoke to her this afternoon and she is ready, our advice, worry about Amy's race and let the rest of the world worry about the Herminator.
Uh, how bout a big WTF. Brutal
Only one thing to do on an 85 degree sunny day and the Eagle River running gin clear with the wind blowing, which means in the heat of the day there are some grasshoppers floatin around, trust me on this one folks...how's about a big ol Eagle River Rainbow trout or two...
One of my responsibilities blogging is to stir the pot up a bit and see what transpires. Now am I the only person in the world thinkin that it's a bit unusual that the Jamaicans are crushing everyone in the running events? I mean, they are not just winning, they are CRUSHING everyone else. I mean come on, what the hell are they cookin up down there on the islands that has these athletes super charged? Addicted to Bicycles says GET THE PISS BUCKET OUT FELLAS!
The start of the day for SQUIRT man...
Addicted to swimming? These guys and gals a freakin nuts...
Next time you guys and gals see Steve White tooling around the valley, be sure to congratulate him on just one hell of a race in Ogden. Steve was 15th overall out of 700+ racers, won his age division, and was the second fastest amateur overall. He was first going into the running leg until some young buck caught him and beat him by a couple of minutes to the line. Steve was psyched.
Josiah Middaugh was 5th overall and stopped by the SQUIRT booth after the race, he was pretty disapponted with his finish but is sure to be a force the rest of the season.

Samuel Sanchez (SPAIN) saved it for that final charge to the line and captured GOLD at the 2008 Olympics in the country that hates Tibet.
LEADVILLE, Colorado — Fans lined the intersection of 6th St. and Harrison Ave. in downtown Leadville before the sun even fully rose, all awaiting what was billed to be an epic battle between David Wiens and Lance Armstrong. The two cycling legends didn’t disappoint during Saturday’s Leadville 100, as they went wheel-to-wheel for nearly the entire race, causing everyone, including Wiens, to wonder whether the five-time defending champion could hang with the seven-time Tour champion.“I never even considered that I would win,” Wiens said just after finishing. “When you’re riding with Lance and you can’t shake him, and he can’t shake you, you’re not going to win that race. At least, I didn’t think so.”But with just less than 10 miles from the finish line, Armstrong pulled up and all but conceded the race to Wiens.“We climbed up till Turquoise Lake and as soon as we hit the dirt, he said, ‘I’m done, go,’” Wiens said, still stunned nearly an hour later.“At the end, I realized that I was totally cooked,” Armstrong said. “ ... He said, ‘Come on,’ and I just said, ‘No, I can’t.

Locals, Tyler Easton and Paul Gorbold, both Pedal Power racers rode to a first (Tyler) and a second (Paul) in their classes.
The Mountain States Cup Series hosted the State Mountain Biking Championships at Sol Vista in Granby yesterday. It was a funky day for weather over there as the morning was perfect for racing. Wave two of the Expert Classes started mid-morning and raced is some pretty blistering heat, while the pro fields started at 1PM and had their races cut from 4 to 2 laps on account of some crazy lightning which banged continuously all over the top of the course. Ross Schnell bested Jay Henry in the shortened race. It appeared Jay was just sitting tight on Schnell's wheel getting ready to pounce when the race was called. In the women's race, Sari Anderson and Jen Gersbach finished "tied" for third. Judy Freeman took the win.

this freak from cutting off your head while on the way to go visit grandma..
