VAIL REC DISTRICT SHORT TRACK KICKS OFF VALLEY MTB SEASON

The Vail Rec District once again came to the rescue of all MTB addicts with the start of the local short track series at the Eagle Fairgrounds. Over 100 racers turned out for a great night of racing in five different catgories...

Thank you to those of you who helped clean this mess up....that was a pretty big job and "the hater" who did this with his heavy equipment should have to answer for what he did...

DOCUHE BAG RANCHER DESTROYS EAGLE AREA SINGLETRACK

So there I was, back home, in Eagle, on the singletrack I know like the back of my hand, for the first time of this season, to Blue Grouse, and down to the connection with Mike's Night Out. The ride was outstanding, the trails just a hair on the loose side, I even ran into Cody Downard who is about to open a photo gallery in Eagle along the way, I even got run off Catwalk by two "other" douche bags on motorcycles who rode straight through me and never stopped as I got off the trail out of their way..........

And then I came across this, and it was disturbing, and when you see what I saw today after the irrigation ditch crossing at the bottom of Mike's Night Out you will be pissed also, because what has been done there was done on purpose, and maliciously, and by an ignorant rancher with his gaul damn back hoe. I understand they have rights to the water which they stole from the Indians, but to pile 1-3 feet of rock, gravel, scrub oak branches, willow branches and other miscellaneous SHIT on top of what was once 1/4 mile of stellar singletrack is WRONG, and you should pay a heavy price for this you douche, and you should be held accountable for the damage you have done. It would have been just as easy to dump those buckets of crap just 1-2 feet over to the side of what was once a great trail as it was to dump it right in the FUCKING MIDDLE of the trail. I say we find out who has the water rights to that ditch and make him/her go clean up the pile of shit they left behind on that trail. Fuck.
There is a 1/4 mile of this damage to what was once the bottom of Mike's Night Out. Mega Douche Bag. You will be held responsible. And you just took the lead in the A2B Douche Bag of the Year voting for 2012.

ROUCKY MOUNTAIN ENDURANCE SERIES/VOO DOO FIRE IN THE BOOKS

The 2012 version of the Voo Doo fire is done, Sari Anderson once again was dominant on the women's side, with a new super star of the dirt, Hector Fernando Riveros Paez, Bandwagon Racing, and Kalan Beisel battled on the men's side for two laps, Paez seperating on the final 22 mile circuit for the win. Brian Alders, just signed by the Marin Factory Team and Karen Jarchow, Yeti Beti won the half marathon event.

The rest of the weekend was full of fishing and Pueblo Lake singletrack for this kid and the riding is super fun and the temps were warm.

Post race party at the Voo Doo, Warriors Cycling puts on a great bash, supported by Oskar Blues of course!

GONE FISHIN, AND ANNOUNCIN

This was the weekend I've been waiting for now for quite sometime. Not only was it the start of the mountain biking announcing schedule for me, but it also marked the official end of my winter job at Christy Sports in Beaver Creek, giving me a much more flexible schedule for play time. With that in order, it was time to head to South Park (yep, it's really South Park, Colorado where Kenny gets killed nightly) and the town of Hartsel to my property which I bought about 20 years ago to camp and fish with my old fishing buddy Steve and his hunting dog Nook. The views are still stellar, the wild burros are still everywhere, and the fish still eat the same shit, which is all perfect.

If you fish in Colorado, you know this place...
Classic Dream Stream water....

Above is Steve's dog Nook, grouse chasin champ..below, the view to the north of Kenosha Pass and South Park

Elgee acres, camping at it's best...

LETS GO METS....AND ROCKIES

I was 12, and a rabid Mets fan, and they sucked, and then they won a World Series in 1969, and I'm going to see them next weekend in Denver, and this is the greatest catch EVER in a World Series game at a critical moment, which swung the series in the Mets favor, and they won a World Championship, and then in 1986 Bill Buckner fucked up the World Series and his life, and the Mets won another one. Right now the Rockies kind of suck, but it aint over till it's over...dawg.

And Mookie Wilson is correct, I remember exactly where I was when this game was played, on the beach in San Felipe, Mexico with about 30 drunken friends watching the game outside someone's RV on a satellite dish TV, it was evening on the left coast of America and Mexico, and tequila was involved.

NEW SINGLETRACK IN EAGLE...AND THE HAMSTER CAGE

It ain't a legendary, monumental, classic section of singletrack that connects 6th Street to Mill Road, but it keeps us mountain bikers off the pavement on the way to and from the Boneyard. Thanks to the crew that put in the effort to get this trail built and it's cool that you left some wood up there to build a couple of north shore features. I'm thinkin teeter totter or something like this vij below...

JAY GOODRICH WRITES IN DIRT RAG MAG OF EAGLE, AND REDNECKS

This photo and story were taken and written by Jay Goodrich, who used to live here in Eagle. He calls the article "of rides and rednecks". Thanks for referring to all of us in Eagle as "Rednecks", nice choice of words in a worldly magazine. I'll leave it at that. I'm out.
