CULT CROSS GOES GLOSSY....

When you race promote, which is no easy task, especially if you are trying to make any money at all, any coverage help you get is HUGE. When I picked up my Mountain Flyer today in my P.O. Box along with ten pounds of other mail due to being gone for four weeks, I was pleasantly surprised to see an article posted about Cult Cross. Thanks Brian Riepe for recognizing our grass roots race series here in Eagle, Colorado! And we hope more of you come out and race next year! We had a blast...
On another note, I'm pretty psyched it is once again dirt season here in Eagle, the trails are perf right now, just keep the rubber side down, it's a long season.

STAY TUNED FOR THE A2B "BIKE SHOPS WITH THE BEST ATTITUDE" AWARDS LATER TODAY..

We visited many on this trip, I'd say 50-60 shops along the long road to Sea Otter and back. Some really stood out, and the rest just seemed pretty regular the day we walked in....stay tuned. I'll actually be home some time tonight....at last, my own bed.

THE ROAD TO RENO THROUGH NEVADA CITY AND DOWNIEVILLE..

A race promoter's nightmare, the trashed single track left by the Coolest 24 Hour race, hell, it may come back better than ever!

Nevada City=Breckenridge in California, Mark Twain's early years spent here.. The bridge which spans the confluence of the American River branches just outside of Cool, California, it pissed like cats and dogs the entire 24 hour race...park officers were not happy with the "new" 8-10 foot wide 14 mile long "singletrack"

Let's be perfect;y honest here folks, Reno is a bit of a dump, however the road to Reno from the Coolest 24 Hours (which may be in serious jeopardy after DESTROYING state park grounds this weekend) was nothing but an incredible drive through some of California's amazing Sierra Nevada Mountains. A brief stop in Nevada City, where the theatre Mark Twain performed in still stands, through Downieville, home of their 26 mile downhill MTB race and Yuba Expeditions where we pulled up and the shop "employees/owners" were outside doing this shit...I hate talented kids.
Want more single track? Go do something about it, here is your shovel.
Yuba Expeditions in the small town of Downieville, great shop with great people workin it. Many bike shops do not get it, that they ALL sell the same shit and that it is the PEOPLE who work there that make the difference, these guys get it, stop in if you happen to pass through.

MISERABLE...

But I did find a Dale's Pale Ale in the crowd...
Mud, water, more rain, mud, water etc.

Kinetic Cycle's Bruce Kaiser all smiles after a dirty lap...more later.

The Coolest24 Hour Race Against Cancer benefits some VERY goos causes as a non-profit event. I introduce to you the Dream Foundation people who do some amazing things for some people who truly are in need....

MUDFEST FOR 24 HOURS

IT'S RAINING, IT'S POURING, YOUR OLD MAN IS SCREWING THE 24 HOURS...

Upon leaving the parking lot out at the Race venue this morning, it immediately began to rain, and rain hard and steady here at the Coolest 24 Hour Race. It's eight hours later and it's still raining hard. Tomorrow and the next 24 hours will be a test for the racers who are now commited. We have decided to work the Squirt tent during the festivities and pass on the racing as after three weeks on the road, riding for eight hours in the slop and rain does not sound like something we need to do at this point. The course is fun, even muddy, incredibly fast and greeeezy on super fun rolling terrain. Race hard and have fun racers, we will supply you with all the lube you need...cheers.
Much of the course is FAST and windy like this
Squirt lining the start/finish area
And then we set up the tent and special guest and A2B fan Bobby Diesel shows with a box of beer to get things rolling, very cool seeing you guys so far from home!

HAAAAAAAAANGOVER......

Thanks to the men, women and staff at the Club Car in Auburn for getting us sufficiently hammered last night during open mic night, and thanks to those of you who let me borrow musical implements so we could tear it up and barely avoid jail...thank god for Denny's across the street this morning. BIG rain coming today....
