NOW I GET IT......TOWN OF EAGLE OPEN SPACE CLOSURE

 I've always questioned why we have closed access to public land which we pay for as tax payers through the Eagle Town open space which is accessible through Eagle Ranch at many different access points. Incidentally, Eagle Ranch was at one time flowing grasslands that was wintering ground for big numbers of elk, deer as well as a population of Sage Grouse which has been rendered dead and gone for decades due to man kinds greed for development. So now, the exact property line of Eagle Ranch is where we can no longer tread until April 15th so we don't fuck with wildlife, all the while as these critters just aimlessly wander through their old habitat WITHIN Eagle Ranch and walk around on the bike paths during this closed season so we can hit them on our road bikes and disturb them while they munch next to road sides, bike paths, house yards, the golf course, and all over Eagle. But DON'T fuck with em outside of this area, they won't reproduce....I say one word....douche.

HOME SWEET HOME....A ROAD RIDE IN EAGLE, FINALLY

Eagle is a great place to live and ride, because not only can you have your Count Chocula cereal for breakfast, but then you can also go for a road ride and be reminded that his Lair is protected from intrusion from outside beings so he can roam the streets of town each night sucking blood and turning everyone into vampires, oh wait, I think that guy just got voted out of office.

I think there should be a comma after "BATS", because this sign reads kind of funny without it. Are we protecting bats, or bats caves and mines? Just sayin.

It's good to be back in the old haunches, it's been a while and a busy winter, time to get rid of the fat....

And the ride home had nothing short of a spectacular Eagle sunset. I rode home pretty scared as I was being chased down by bats...

THE ROUBAIX, BOULDER ROUBAIX.....

Under absolutely perfect racing conditions on some of the roads and back roads of North Boulder County, the Boulder Roubaix took place yesterday and proved to be a war of mechanical attrition for many. Frank Pipp, who can sprint with the best took the victory on the mens side of things and Allison Powers destroyed the womens field separating early in the race and riding solo to victory. The mens field saw a five man break stay away which included Robin Eckmann, Pipp, Creed, Sullivan and Kyer who worked to perfection until the decisive early sprint from Pipp, who coasted home.

And of course today was the Paris-Roubaix which was won by the new Gilbert, Tom Boonen, again, for #4.

In the words of the great Dave Towle, tomorrow, "it's on like Donkey Kong" in 2012. The road season "officially" gets under way with the Boulder Roubaix which I am honored to once again be announcing to kick off my personal official road racing season on the mic. A preview of the course in North Boulder County revealed a course that is in wonderful shape, and quick stop by Boulder Cyclesport where I started and finished my ride confirmed that front rangers are ready to roll according the Brandon Dwight. Let's get the party started....

And then it was on to the Avs game to watch them unfortunately end their hopes for the playoffs with a lackluster 5-2 loss to Columbus, who pretty much suck, but looked like they should be hoisting the trophy on this eve...the seats however were f'n great...

THE PEOPLE OF EAGLE HAVE SPOKEN...

And the Mayor of Eagle is not a dick....

Yesterday was a historic day in Eagle, Colorado. The majority of the people here voted for a new Mayor who truly believes in preserving small town character, the reason we moved here and live here. This in turn is a big blow to the BIG BLOW called Red Development who is trying to once again cram a fucking mega mall down the throats of Eagle, Coloradoans. Keep the momentum going Eagle and send these clowns back to the rock they crawled out from in the midwest to try and change Eagle's land scape with concrete, asphalt and garbage in the Eagle River.

PLAY THE CARDS YOU ARE DEALT, NIGHT RIDE.....

I have turned into a bit of a working stiff like most of the world this winter, working an eight hour split everyday has left me with zero hours of daylight to ride my bikes, which by the way I am addicted too. Typically I'm riding long easy days on the road at this time of year piling up miles. Can't do that this year. Instead I've been riding very little, on my days off and riding uphill a lot, primarily on the front range. But now the night has changed, and the temps are climbing during the darkness, which means it's prime time night riding conditions. For those of you who have been riding the Boneyard in Eagle all winter and spring and thought it was a good idea, it was not, the trail is pretty fucked up compared to years past, so thanks for riding in the deep mud ruts and continuing to ride them for MILES even though you KNEW you were fucking up the trail. Dicks.

In the meantime, I've unleashed my personal night owl with a fury and will be riding the dark often, for two more weeks, then it's gonna be time to start riding some serious miles. Life is grand aint it?

And after my move back to the high, I had lost a lot of gear to boxes. Fortunately, I found the greatest pair of night riding glasses ever prior to riding last night, my prescription Exowind Rudy Projects, which absolutely ROCK for night riding. They helped me avoid hitting about 1743 deer last night.
