This Tour has been a bigger mess than usual week one, the big names are tumbling one by one and going home, and it blows. What a waste, so many of the names I wanted to watch for three weeks are done, and for what? The fact that they are all ending up dumped in ditches and battered simply sucks. "That's the Tour during week one" is plain and simply bullshit. To win by default and bad luck aint no fun. It's been a clusterfuck in 2011, and once we get past these 200km stages where Cavendish rides hard for 100m and wins, then we can get down to business, after he drops out or misses the cut. I just hate to see so many of the top names done, and in the ditch. Fuck.

Totally agree, man. Time to stop the one week foreplay of the TDF as we know it. The first week should have at least 2 very strategic stages to set up the main GC contenders and help keep the domestiques from getting all amped up and edgy. The current format just increases the likelihood of crashes. I would love to see week one with an individual TT and a stage with a nice loooong/hard climb with a technical descent.
