In 1984 when I lived in Gunnison, Colorado, I did the Pearl Pass ride which was part of Fat tire Bike week in September. We rode over Pearl Pass after camping in Cumberland Basin. It was my introduction to hardcore mountain biking and I rode it on my Trek 890 hybrid. Dana Atchley was the local guy who turned me onto that scene....what a time in the history of mountain biking....never to be re-lived again.
