VOS TAKES WORLDS, AGAIN...

The podium explodes into fun mode at Worlds
all photos from CX MAG

Compton trying to escape the power of Vos late in the race and eliminate any chance for a late sprint, smart tactics, but Vos would say no...

pic from cxmag
It was all Vos in 2011 at CX Worlds with a frightening attack halfway through the last lap to capture her third straight World Title. America's Katie Compton who led the majority of the race finished an incredible second for Silver.

U23 last two very exciting laps, Dutch go 1-2

THERE ARE VERY FEW THINGS IN LIFE....

More frustrating than NOT being able to go ride a bike. Remember that, all of you.
Whether or not you want to wear your helmet...nice example dad.

BRUTALLY HARD FIGHTING...

Much like these ice climbers in East Vail which I captured doing their deal the other day (while I could still function as a human being), I'm climbing my own wall of ice these days. Surgery has left me in a catatonic state most of the day this week. The ebb and flow of thinking I'm feeling better and then for no reason at all getting smashed in the face only to have to sleep for hours on end has me thoroughly frustrated. I swore seven years ago when I first had this polyp removal surgery that I would never do it again, but I have no choice, this is my genetic footprint and I will have to endure this misery every 4-7 years, and it is brutal, and it is trying to beat me. I'm in the middle of a week long cyclocross race and I'm on lap two, praying for the "one lap to go" bell. Through it all, there have been some amazingly good things that have happened this week, and for that I am thankful. And any year that a team from New York, Boston are out, and with a chance that the team from Green Bay may lose this year in the Super Bowl, it's acutally not that bad. I guess the biggest issue here is that a team from Pittsburgh may win the Super Bowl, again, snore. Think I'll take a nap.

MEANWHILE, BACK AT INTERBIKE 2010....

Just when the driving snow of winter drives me into thoughts of warmer days on the bike, and especially after two amazing days of road riding with my BOMB girlfriend down on the front range, I stumbled upon some stuff I neglected to blog back in September after the road trip to Interbike. So let's have a throw back post today....the road to Vegas with the Feedback Sports guys, to push Squirt Lube at both the Outdoor Demo, which was a cluster, with temps of 100 and winds gusting to 40mph both days..

And then all kinds of killer new product on the hall floor at the Venetian including thes killer new treads from Kenda...

yeah, there were tons of sexy fixies, but I was wearing the wrong kind of jeans to ride one

Very sweet and light new night riding systems, this one from LUU Lighting

Serenity bikes, yeah all one piece

What eva, nothin betta
Rim to win

Cross Vegas rocked it
the end
And then there is this gem, it was late in the day at Dirt Demo day two, and there was beer...

KATIE COMPTON PREPS FOR CX WORLDS....WITH SQUIRT LUBE

Photos from Mark Legg Compton

As Katie Compton prepares for her onslaught at this year's Cyclocross World Championships, after having already won 4 WORLD CUP races this year alone, one thing is for certain. Katie and husband/mechanic/pit guy Mark Legg will be rockin the Squirt Lube at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships which will take place Jan. 29-30 in St. Wendel, Germany. Mark Legg says Squirt is the only lube that will last the entire race in the brutal European conditions.

CULT CROSS 2011 LIVES

April 3rd, 2011 is the day of reckoning, for me, and you.

SINUS SURGERY, ROUND TWO....

Let me start by saying these are not pictures of my sinuses. With that said, we all have eight sinus cavities in our heads. They help us breath, smell, taste and ride bikes fast if they are normal. The picture up top shows normal, unaffected sinuses which most of us have. Black represents "clear" and open sinuses. The picture below show sinuses packed with infectious material and polyps which some others have. Seven years ago I had major sinus surgery to remove bone, cartilage and infectious material which had packed all of my sinuses solid. People who have a favorable condition to grow these polyps are also unfortunately going to be asthmatic, as the same viral issues create both of these problems, they are brothers. I have them both, and every 6-7 years I must get cleaned out. I did not post my own personal catscan pictures here as you would not be able to see anything clear, there is zero black in the images of any of my eight sinus cavities. I can't smell or taste, and I have been walking around with a sinus infection 24-7 for ten months, tired, stuffed up, feeling like crap and wanting to sleep all day. My seven years is up, and it's time to get augured out again on January 25th, there is no choice.
I would have posted my own catscan pics, but then you would have seen that there are clearly some loose screws.

FUNKY CLOUDS, FUNKY BOOTS, FUNKY TELE

There were some very funky clouds around the hill yesterday, apparently a predecessor to the small dump of snow we got last night which had me heading to the parking debacle over in Vail today.
It's the end of the world as we know it...

I repeat, every season, this is NOT telemark skiing, this is Alpine free heel skiing, plastic, medal and cables do not classify as telemark. Nordic skiing is hard, telemark used to be hard, this is easy, go ahead and start your whining, then go jump on your singlespeed..

This is a big bag of smelly shit, and yes, that is a 1986 Spider Ski bag issued from Dano Bruno at Keystone when he was a patroller there
And these are the biggest piece of shit Scarpa Terminator 2 plastic free heel Alpine boots which were all recalled because the billows folded the wrong way out of the factory causing the boot to slice your toes off the first time you dropped to make a turn, they replaced the lowers on ALL of these, I still have a pair of these gems, and they work just fine a million years later.
