I'VE SAID THIS BEFORE...

I'm not as Addicted To Bicycles as I used to be. With a wonderful girlfriend to spend quality time with, things are much more balanced now. It's a lot more fun. I don't have to ride my bikes everyday and everywhere so I can tell people who don't give a shit all about it. But I'll tell you about Cedar Breaks National Monument on my birthday road trip, through some pics.

And then there was this moron...

FAREWELL ROCKSTAR. HELTON GOES YARD IN LAST HOME GAME

Despite having to deal with the biggest douche bag fans in the world at last eve's celebration of Todd Helton's final home game ever for the Rockies, we got to celebrate another amazingly well timed Todd Helton moment in his first at bat against the New York Red Sox. Buckner.

IT AINT OVER TILL IT'S OVER

There are a bunch of stupid pictures of snowfall in the high country of Colorado all over social media today, to which I say give me liberty or give me dirt. I'm glad to be front ranging for a couple more days with this perfect weather. There is an entire new crew on the CX scene these days which is good, but people are just a little to fired up about it right now, we will see who is still in the starting grid when it gets really hard, when the weather sucks, and the CX season is in month three. We will see.

CROSS VEGAS 2013 RECAP

This pretty much sums it up. I'm glad to be back home. It was a grand time and race. That thing has turned into a beast of an event. Nice job Brook Watts and thanks for letting me race this year. I'm out.

And then of course there was this..

BRUTAL AND BIBLICAL....THE FRONT RANGE IS GETTING WASHED AWAY.

The pictures and videos are just astounding from the front range of Colorado right now. I heard the term "biblical" used today to describe the rains and flooding. Maybe a once in 500 years event? This is Lyons, it is being devastated. I don't even want to think about what has happened in Estes Park, one of Colorado's cool tourist mountain towns and the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. So far three are dead, however there is no way that number won't jump with the flash flooding the canyons have seen thus far, and it's raining hard there again....get ready, be safe.

BOULDER, HOLY SHIT

CROSS OF THE NORTH PARTIES..

Dean Warren Photo
Colorado officially kicked off it's Cyclocross season yesterday, and I can't remember a opener with better or closer racing. Every category had some monster battles and the party on the flyover during the Men's Open race went off. With Nationals coming to Boulder in four months, this was a fantastic way to start the season. Above, Tim Allen is pictured entering the maze of beer and dollar bills on top of the flyover. A lot of money was spent, and a lot of beer was consumed. It was an opening day PARTY in Colorado. Hope you were part of it.

MOUNTAIN FLYER VIDEO OF THE GRAND JUNCTION OFF ROAD....SUCH A GREAT AND DIFFICULT RACE.

Butch Peterson is finally back on the camera for the MTB world to see. The guy just has a knack for putting cool video edits together. Great to see him back!

PLAYING WACK-A-DEER....

It kind of sucks that I've gotten so busy that I do not take many pictures these days. With that said, I've had a whirlwind announcing season and see so much of Colorado, by choice, that once in a while I force myself to stop and take a photo. After a great inaugural weekend of action at the Grand Junction Off Road with promoter Todd Sadow and then in Steamboat Springs at the Moots Party and the Steamboat Stage Race Criterium, I drove home to grouse hunt over Dunckley and Ripple Creek Passes followed by a jaunt over my old stomping grounds on the Buford-New Castle Road, where I promptly had a big ol Mule Deer try and jump over my fucking car killing itself by smashing its head against the front of my Yakima Rocket Box. After making sure the deer was dead, I spent a few minutes inspecting the box and it's mounts which had been moved, some significantly, and decided to finish my grouse hunt and fix the shit at home in the morning. That part of Colorado is simply amazing and I was fortunate to have worked around and in it in the late 90's. The scenery is breath taking and it's a perfect setting to play  Wack-a Deer while grouse hunting. You should try it soon.
