GIANT........ DICKHEADS

It went something like this....

On Friday morning, I was driving from Lakewood to Indina Creek to go ride a lap on the Rocky Mountain Endurance series course where I would be announcing the next day. (The riding is out of this world there). I JUST got my new bike and built it up the day before, rode Apex, and woke up to a flat rear tire with no spare tubes. So I decided to swing by the Giant Bicycle Shop on Sante Fe on my way down there and pick up a couple of tubes so I had a spare to ride with. I googles the shop hours on my phone, which told me they were opened at 10am on Friday. Perfect. It was 10:01 when I got to the strip mall the shop is located in and the lights were on as well as a a mechanic working on a bike in a stand which I could see as I walked to the front door. I pulled on the door, it was locked. No big deal, the mechanic saw me, he'll come and open the door and let me in. I stood there for five minutes before I tried the door again. Still locked, still the same mechanic, who saw me again when I yanked on the door. Now I'm thinking, what the fuck asshole? You were supposed to open ten minutes ago and I want to go ride my new bike, dickweed. Almost TEN more minutes go by and I pull on the front door again, this time there are two guys in the shop. About a minute goes by and the new dueche comes to the front door at almost 10:20 and says "how's it going, sorry about the wait". To which I reply..."you guys don't like selling shit or what?" He then explains that he was running a bit late. Fuck you, sell me the tubes and let me out of this customer service shit hole. You are both fired. I'll never set foot in that store again or buy a Giant product, you kind of suck. Dicks.

WELCOME BACK KOTTER...TREK RUMBLEFISH PRO ARRIVES

It happened, full suspension came back into my life this week and I'm about to hit dirt and go get the suspension dialed in. I work in the winter at Christy Sports which happens to be a Trek dealer. So here it is, the Trek Rumblefish Pro. The bike fits incredibly well out of the box and has many bells and whistles. Maybe too many for this kid. But I'm old and tired of beating myself up on a hardtail carbon race bike all the time, all though the FELT is still an amazing machine. I've shied away from Carbon, I don't race anymore and don't need a light bike. I'll just keep the cheeseburger frenzy at bay and drop a couple of lbs. to accomplish the same goal. If you ask how much this bike weighs then you just don't get it. If you think saving 2 pounds on a bike is going to make you finish 34th instead of 35th in a race, well you are wrong. I want a beast of a trail bike. This is it. It's gonna be sick. I want a ride that feels like I'm sitting on a couch drinking a cold beer. Bam. It's locked and loaded, less a quick trimming of the hydraulic seat post hose. I'm gonna go ride this fucker right now. ATMO shmatmo.

TOMORROW....

Fucking Finally, after six years on a hardtail....

EAGLE DIRT STEPS IT UP, BIG TIME

The weather finally broke in the high country this weekend, and it was a pretty special time in the town of Eagle, Colorado. Thanks to the Town, many of the most talented mountain bike racers in the country showed up to race the inaugural Firebird 40 (36) and the racing was fantastic, and the Eagle Outside Expo was a bug success, and there were tons of demo bikes to check out, and it was simply incredible to see so many riders introduce to just some of what Eagle has to offer. Most racers and visitors explained that they never knew that any of this even existed, and we hope they come back to ride and race again. It was a cool vibe all weekend. Mike Mac killed it bringing big time racing to Eagle. It was hard and fun. It will be better in the future. Be sure to put the Eagle Outside Festival on your map for next year....I'll be here. For sure.
The first ever charge of the neutral rollout in Eagle.

The Firebird La Femme was the first ever women's only mountain bike race in Eagle. Erin Huck of Tokyo Joe's took the win and a check for $1000 home with her. The women dug the course and the format....
That's Todd Wells, USA National Champion, on top of the podium and $2000 wealthier on Saturday. Gretchen Reeves won the women's 40.
