DIVERSITY....

I am incredibly thankful on Memorial Day 2013 for what sacrifices others have made so we can live as we choose in this country. I'm also thankful for the incredible diversity in my life that luckily brought me to Colorado 30 years ago and somehow led me to this place I am today. I enjoy doing a lot of different things, and my incredible girlfriend Anna is the same way. I was looking at pictures from the past week and realized how lucky we all are. We can do anything we like in the USA, within reason. If we are responsible adults, we can have one hell of a time shooting targets with firearms, or we can go ski, or ride mountain bikes or WHATEVER. We can also own cool dawgs. "Peaches" pictured below is one of four pekingeses which belong to Anna. She recently had double knee surgery and is recovering perfectly. They are fun dogs. My life is much healthier these days, much more going on than 2-4 hour bike rides everyday due to there being nothing else to do....I'm diggin it. Diversity.

LIVIN IN MERICA....

Please allow me to be candid for a while. It's Memorial Day weekend and I do not have to work. It's really nice to be able to spend three days off with my wonderful girlfriend on a road trip doing something we both, and especially Anna, enjoy. She is a fantastic target shooter with a variety of firearms. It's really fun to watch how well she shoots as well as learn more from her.
My favorite shooting device is the .45 five shot revolver pictured above at silhouette steel plate targets. It's super challenging and fun to try and nail targets at 75 meters with this piece and get your "Dirty Larry" on. "Now you can ask yourself". At the same time there are some big cycling events and Facebook is once again displaying at nausium as the ME I ME program is running wild on the University of Facebook. I'm not sure why people have to tell me where they finished in a race week after week. Social status in not equated with where you finish in a race people....posting stuff about cool places and people is acceptable, political views and letting me know where you finished is tired, besides, that's my job, to tell everyone where you finished...with that said. ME I ME I ME ME I I I ME ME ME ME. Happy Memorial Day weekend, and thank you to the people who have made this country what it is, an amazing place where I finished first at Sea Otter in 2009.

TIME TO BANG THE WHITE BUFFALO....

Memorial day weekend and I have no race to call, which is a little bizarre, but I'll take it. It's gonna be nice to have the entire Memorial Day weekend off with my girl and the dogs and head down to one of her favorite spots (and mine), the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, New Mexico. If you are even a little bit of a shooting enthusiast, these are hallowed grounds, with 17 different ranges to target shoot everything from plinking steel .22 caliber silhouettes to smacking the steel plate "White Buffalo" at 1125 yards. The place is basically the Disney World of shooting....and what better way to celebrate Memorial Day then by nailing some targets, lots of em. Bam.

ALL IN A DAY....

Today was one of those spring days. It was time to head back to Eagle from Denver to work tomorrow and since Arapahoe Basin is along the way, and it is STILL snowing there, the decision was made to ski a few runs. Low and behold I run into old skiing buddy from the 80's and 90's Dave Myer and we go rip a few in the snowstorm and a very well covered ski area on a freezingly cold day in may. It was actually quite good skiing and a shit pile of fun. Then on to Eagle, with the new rig in tow, run a couple of errands and then take the new big travel dropper seat post bike out on the home dirt on a perfect eve to ride and do some trail work....I get it now, big travel and seats that drop equal sick fun.
